Vacation is one of the best times of the year, you have no one to tell you what to do. Your phone is not ringing every three minutes, and you don’t have a stack of papers on your desk as far as it is concerned.
Just when you think there is nothing in the world that can stop you, it stops dead in your tracks. You look to your right, and you see a chocolate smothered pecan tart. You then proceed to eat four of them.
You feel guilty because it seems like you just threw the past four months of your diet down the drain. I can tell you that this does happen to the best of us, and I will admit that once you take that first bite, it is very hard to stop making five more.
Some of us quiet our diet right there and then. These diet mistakes are common, we are only human, but there has to be a way to take control.
Vacations should be about relaxing, letting go of the world you come from and enjoying all the desserts in the world, only it’s not. Diets can be great for us if done properly, but so can eating half a tub of ice cream – I didn’t say it was healthy.
What if there was a way to splurge without feeling so guilty? Or maybe feeling guilty is the only way we can have some self-control.
Who knows? Well, just maybe there is a solution here, and for once, maybe you can leave your end your vacation on a high note by not going back home feeling guilty. See, what many people don’t have is will power.
People proceed to love unhealthy, delicious treats more than their health and then when vacation comes; you would think they were never on a diet, to begin with. This is a problem. There are a lot of healthy foods out in the world that tastes excellent, maybe even better than chocolate or ice cream.
When on vacation I suggest trying new things that are more on the healthy side. It’s a proven fact that when trying new things, your mind is so focused on how the food will taste that you will think less about the food you know – like unhealthy foods. Here’s The Beta Switch Reviews’ website to learn more about good vs. bad foods.
Trying new foods, especially foods that are healthier for you, are a new experience. Who knows, maybe if you enjoy the food enough it will become part of your lifestyle at home.
Some other helpful advice is to have just one treat day, that way you can splurge, but not enough to feel terrible about yourself.
Another tip is to hide the mini-bar key, or accidently “lose” it. As well as the fact that water IS your friend, and keeping you busy also helps drastically. Do not miss a workout; missing workouts could result in a habit that will make it almost impossible to get back on track. Happy Vacationing.
